There is a significant difference to marketing in Traditional media and Social media. Traditional media is based on the sender’s terms, one-way communication. Social media is user-generated communication with the receiver in demand.
According to the consulting firm McKinsey & Co, traditional television advertising is now only a third as affective as it was in 1990. Word of Mouth has instead become more important and used method of marketing.
Today Word of Mouth is five times more trustworthy than television, radio and news ads. 90% of online consumers trust recommendations from friends they know.
